Scheduled maintenance service

Follow the Normal maintenance schedule if the vehicle is usually operated where none of the following conditions apply.

Follow the Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions if any of the following conditions apply.

  • Repeated driving short distance of less than 8 km (5 miles) in normal temperature or less than 16 km (10 miles) in freezing temperature.

  • Extensive engine idling or low speed driving for long distances.

  • Driving on rough, dusty, muddy, unpaved, graveled or salt-spread roads.

  • Driving in areas using salt or other corrosive materials or in very cold weather.

  • Driving in heavy dust condition.

  • Driving in heavy traffic area.

  • Driving on uphill, downhill, or mountain road repeatedly.

  • Using for towing or camping and driving with loading on the roof.

  • Driving for patrol car, taxi, other commercial use of vehicle towing.

  • Frequently driving under high speed or rapid acceleration/deceleration.

  • Frequently driving in stop-and-go condition.

  • Engine oil usage which is not recommended (Mineral type, Semi-synthetic, Lower grade spec, etc.)

If your vehicle is operated in any of the prior listed conditions, you should inspect, replace or refill more frequently, using the severe usage maintenance schedule instead of the normal usage maintenance schedule.

Normal maintenance schedule

The following maintenance services must be performed to ensure good emission control and performance. Keep receipts for all vehicle emission services to protect your warranty. Where both mileage and time are shown, the frequency of service is determined by whichever occurs first.

Engine oil and engine oil filter

  • As it is normal for engine oil to be consumed during driving, the engine oil level should be checked on regular basis.

  • The engine oil change interval for normal operating conditions is based on the use of the recommended engine specification. If the recommended engine oil specification is not used, then replace the engine oil according to the maintenance schedule under severe operating conditions.

  • Never add any additives to the engine oil. Engine oil additives can change the properties of engine oil and may cause serious engine failure.

Engine oil and engine oil filter (For Diesel Engine)

  • The engine oil level should be checked regularly and maintained properly. Operating with an insufficient amount oil can damage the engine, and such damage is not covered by warranty.

  • This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only when using a qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">.

    If the diesel fuel specifications don't meet the EN590, it must be replaced according to the severe maintenance schedule.

  • Never add any additives to the engine oil. Engine oil additives can change the properties of engine oil and may cause serious engine failure.

Coolant (Engine)

When adding coolant, use only deionized water or soft water for your vehicle and never mix hard water in the coolant filled at the factory. An improper coolant mixture can result in serious malfunction or engine damage.

Drive belts (Engine)

  • Adjust alternator, water pump and air conditioner (if equipped) drive belt. Inspect and if necessary repair or replace.

  • Inspect drive belt tensioner, idler and alternator pulley and if necessary correct or replace.

Spark plug

For your convenience, it can be replaced prior to it's interval when you do maintenance of other items.

Fuel filter cartridge (Diesel)

This maintenance schedule depends on fuel quality. It is applicable only when using a qualified fuel <"EN590 or equivalent">. If the diesel fuel specifications don’t meet the EN590, it must be replaced more frequently. Kia recommends "every 7,500 km (5,000 miles) inspection, every 15,000 km (10,000 miles) replacement". If there are some important safety matters like fuel flow restriction, surging, loss of power, hard starting problem etc., replace the fuel filter immediately regardless of maintenance schedule and consult a professional workshop. Kia recommends to consult an authorised Kia dealer/service partner.

Transmission fluid

Transmission fluid should be changed anytime it has been submerged in water.

NOTICE

  1. Service Interval: 1st Free Service will be on 1,000 km/1.5 months (whichever is earlier), 2nd Free Service will be on 10,000 km/ 12 months (whichever is earlier) & 3rd Free Service will be on 20,000 km/24 months (whichever is earlier).

  2. Coolant: replacement cycle changed from HMIE recommendation: After 1st replacement, replace every 40,000 km or 24 months to: After 1st replacement, replace every 20,000 km or 24 months, for ease of explaining to customers

  3. Automatic transmission fluid: Changed from No check, no service required to Inspect every 30,000 kms or 36 months based on KHQ team recommendation (email attached)

  4. Air Cleaner Filter: Changed from Replace every 15,000 kms or 12 months to Replace every 20,000 kms or 24 months, based on HMIE confirmation (email attached)

  5. Fuel tank air filter: replacement frequency changed basis HMIE confirmation (email attached).

  6. All othe items: Replacement cycle changed from 15,000 kms or 12 months to 10,000 km or 12 months based on Engine Oil replacement cycle (interval in months maintained same while reducing the kms)

Maintenance Under Severe Usage Conditions

The following items must be serviced more frequently on cars mainly used under severe driving conditions. Refer to the chart below for the appropriate maintenance intervals.
