Our Kia Story
Since 1944, Kia has been shaping the global automotive industry. Today, together with our sister brand Hyundai, we form the world’s fifth-largest automotive company, with people in around 180 countries driving Kia vehicles.
Kia’s journey began globally & took shape in Europe in 1991. Today, Kia UK plays an active role within this wider organisation - bringing global ambition together with local expertise, collaboration, and customer focus.Our story is one of continuous progress, shaped by the people who work here. Kia UK HQ
Kia UK establishes its headquarters in Walton-on-Thames, creating a central hub to support a growing network, strengthen collaboration, and enable the next phase of its UK journey.

Global Success of Sportage
The Kia Sportage surpassed 5 million global sales, reinforcing its position as one of Kia’s most successful and recognisable models worldwide.

1 Million UK Sales Milestone
Kia UK reached a landmark 1 million vehicle sales, marking a significant moment in the brand’s continued growth and success in the UK market.

Kia Brand Relaunch
We introduced a new brand identity with a new slogan, 'Movement that Inspires'. Paired with our design philosophy, ‘Opposites United’, this shift marked the beginning of a new era of creativity, progress, and a reimagined vision for the future of mobility.

Record Sales & European Recognition
Kia UK exceeded 100,000 annual sales for the first time, while the Kia EV6 was named European Car of the Year, highlighting our leadership in electrification.

Record Growth in the UK
Kia UK achieved its highest-ever annual sales, with over 112,000 units, strengthening its position as one of the UK’s top automotive brands.

President VisitSenior global leadership visits Kia UK’s Walton-on-Thames headquarters, recognising the team’s strong performance, market growth and continued contribution to Kia’s global success and future direction.

Electrification, Growth and Industry Recognition
Kia UK surpassed 1.5 million vehicles sold since launch, with over 50% of sales now electrified (EV, HEV and PHEV models). The Kia PV5 was also awarded 2026 International Van of the Year, recognising continued innovation in mobility solutions, alongside a visit from Kia’s global leadership to the UK.

Since then, Nicole has developed her expertise across digital solutions, working in a role where no two weeks are the same. Maddie was drawn to the automotive industry by a long-standing interest in cars and the sense that this is a pivotal moment for the sector. With the growth of EVs, evolving policies, and increasing global competition, she saw an opportunity to build a career in a constantly developing environment.
She encourages other young women not to be influenced by outdated stereotypes, highlighting the wide range of roles and opportunities available across the industry. Since joining Kia as an After Sales Graduate, Maddie has particularly valued the supportive culture and the chance to gain insight from both Kia UK and the dealer network.
One of her biggest surprises has been the breadth of development and training available, alongside the strong representation of women within head office functions. Looking ahead, Maddie is focused on progressing into more senior roles and continuing to make the most of each opportunity — including her move into a product-focused role.

Elvie was drawn to the automotive industry by its fast-moving, constantly evolving nature and the opportunity to contribute to a sector shaped by innovation and change. Her placement experience has shown just how much forward‑thinking and creativity the industry requires, reinforcing that deep technical knowledge is not the only pathway into automotive.
Through her role at Kia, Elvie has discovered a dynamic environment where the work is varied and new learning opportunities arise every day. She values the supportive and collaborative culture within her team, noting that colleagues are highly encouraging and invested in helping one another grow. Being trusted with meaningful responsibility has made her experience particularly impactful.
One of Elvie’s biggest surprises has been the scale and pace of activity behind the scenes, with constant projects and initiatives pushing the business forward. Her experience has also highlighted the industry’s openness and supportiveness, regardless of background or prior experience.
Looking ahead, Elvie plans to continue building her knowledge and skills throughout her placement, creating a strong foundation for her final year of university and future career.
