Kia EV9 Wins Double at World Car of the Year Awards

If you’re currently looking for a new car, it’s important to consider what a bigger car could offer you.

But why are bigger cars becoming so popular? As proud manufacturers of an award-winning range of SUVs and family cars , at Kia, we understand the different ways that bigger cars can enhance your driving experience. Let’s explore the numerous benefits of big cars and why they’re becoming a firm family favourite.

Double gold for the EV9

The 2024 World Car Awards ceremony took place last month during the New York International Auto Show (NYIAS). The event opened with a live announcement of the six category winners.

For Kia, this kicked off an extremely successful evening, as the Kia EV9 took home both the World Electric Vehicle and, the ultimate accolade, the World Car of the Year award.

For the World Electric Vehicle, the winners were selected from a fiercely competitive entry list of 38 EV models, which was narrowed down to three finalists. These were the BYD Seal, Volvo EX30 and Kia EV9.

Meanwhile, the World Car of the Year category had an initial entry list of 32 models, which was shortlisted to the BMW i5, Volvo EX30 and Kia EV9 as the three finalists. The EV9 beat all the competition in both categories to secure an exciting and impressive dual victory.

“We are hugely honoured that the 2024 EV9 has been named the World Car of the Year and World Electric Vehicle. This triumph is a testament to our unwavering commitment to pushing the boundaries of technology and design excellence. The Kia EV9’s continued success will drive us to keep delivering exceptional vehicles that redefine the driving experience for customers around the world”, says Ho Sung Song, Kia President and CEO.

Trailblazing a new future of mobility

The World Electric Vehicle and World Car of the Year 2024 prizes make special additions to an already impressive cabinet of awards for the Kia EV9. Just last month, in the UK Car of the Year Awards ( UKCOTY ), the EV9 was crowned both the Best Large Crossover and 2024 Car of the Year. It was also featured on the Best Electric Car 2024 list by What Car?.

With such national and global recognition under its belt, there’s no doubt that the EV9 is trailblazing the way for an all-electric future.

The EV9 is designed to deliver an electric driving experience like no other, bringing practicality, style and performance under one roof.

Using our game-changing E-GMP (Electric Global Modular Platform), this electric SUV has more space for you to enjoy, as well as enhanced performance and increased electric range. The fourth-generation battery technology means you can go much further on just one charge, with an impressive EV range of up to 349 miles*.

Thanks to the long wheelbase and flat-floor architecture of the E-GMP, the EV9 offers a spacious cabin with 3 rows of seating, including swivel and relaxation seats in the second row. The new platform also improves overall braking and steering performance, ensuring a stable and athletic drive. Even better, the tyres are optimised to reduce noise, vibration and handling, so you can always enjoy maximum driving pleasure.

With space for up to 7 people, as well as ample storage solutions and a guaranteed seamless driving experience, the EV9 makes the ideal family car. Now available to order, you can discover sustainable driving in a new way.
