How do Electric Cars Work?
All electric cars, also known as Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs), are powered by an electric motor and battery, with an external plug socket to charge the battery. Our diagram below shows how these components work together in more detail.
All our electric cars can cover long distances with zero tailpipe emissions. Our EV6
can go up to 361 miles* (combined WLTP testing) on a single charge, while our newest electric car, the EV4
can travel up to 388* miles, the longest in our lineup.
All our electric vehicles can be charged from a home
or public charge
point using Type 2 and CCS standard sockets. At a rapid DC
charging station, an EV will charge in less time than you need to take a break.
For added efficiency, Kia electric cars also use regenerative braking,
which allows them to funnel significant amounts of energy back to the battery through braking or deceleration.
*The range was determined according to the standardised EU measurement procedure (WLTP). The individual driving style and other factors, such as speed, outside temperature, topography and the use of electricity-consuming devices/units, have an influence on the real-life range and can possibly reduce it.

7 Year Warranty
Kia high voltage lithium ion battery-units in electric vehicles (EV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) are built to have a long life. These batteries are covered by the KIA warranty for a period of 7 years from initial registration or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. For low voltage batteries (48V and 12V) in mild-hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV), the Kia warranty covers a period of 2 years from initial registration regardless of mileage. For EVs and PHEVs only, Kia guarantees a 70% capacity of the battery. Capacity reduction of the battery in HEV and MHEV is not covered by the warranty. To minimize possible capacity reduction, consult the owner's manual. Kia warranty covers a period of 7 years from initial registration or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first. Deviations according to the valid guarantee conditions, e.g. for battery, paint and equipment, subject to local terms and conditions. For full Kia warranty terms and exclusions click here
In order to achieve the maximum charging speed, EV6 must use an 800 volt electric vehicle charger that delivers at least 240kW of electricity. Actual charging speed & charging time may be influenced by the battery temperature and exterior weather conditions. -
