Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Portable Charger?

The Portable Charger is a compact and portable EV charging solution designed to charge your Kia EV without requiring permanent wall installation or mounting. Customers can conveniently carry and use it across different locations.

How is the Portable Charger different from a conventional home charger?

Unlike conventional chargers that require installation, wall mounting, and dedicated setup, the Portable Charger is plug-and-play and can be used directly with compatible power sockets.

Does the Portable Charger require installation?

No. The Portable Charger does not require any fixed installation or wall mounting. Simply plug it into a compatible power socket—preferably an industrial socket for the fast & safe charging experience—and start charging by following the usage instructions.

What charging modes are supported?

The charger supports dual charging modes:
  • 3.3 kW charging using a compatible standard power socket.
  • 7.4 kW charging using a compatible industrial/high-capacity socket.

Which socket is recommended for regular use with the portable EV charger?

For regular charging, we recommend using an industrial socket as it is designed for higher continuous loads and enables faster charging. The charger is also compatible with a 16A domestic 3-pin socket when an industrial socket is not available. For safe operation, use a properly installed socket and avoid extension cords.

Why does the charger plug or power socket become warm during charging?

Mild warmth during EV charging can be normal, especially during long sessions. However, excessive heat usually means there's a problem like a loose connection, low-quality socket, or use of an extension board. For safe charging, always plug the charger directly into a proper 16A socket and avoid adapters or extensions.

Can the 7.4 kW portable EV charger be connected to any socket to achieve 7.4 kW charging?

No. The full 7.4 kW charging output is available only when using a dedicated industrial socket with sufficient electrical load capacity. When connected to a 16A domestic 3-pin socket, the charger will operate but at a lower charging power.

What is the warranty period for the portable EV charger & How to avail the same?

The portable EV charger comes with a 36-month warranty, as per the terms and conditions prescribed by the charger manufacturer. Customers may avail warranty support from charger manufacturer through the authorized dealership network
