Innovative Material Design
Since 2014, Kia has advanced its approach to sustainability in design, beginning with the use of bioplastics and bio-based materials in components of the Soul electric vehicle. Building on this foundation, we have continued to expand the use of plant-based and recycled plastics across vehicle components, from fabrics and carpets to plastics and paints.
Moreover, in 2023, we announced our 'Design Sustainability Strategy' as a meaningful step towards supporting Kia’s ambition to achieve mid-to-long-term carbon emission reduction by 2045.

Starting with the EV9, Kia is gradually phasing out the use of leather across all new models. Kia’s investment in bio-processing technologies is accelerating the realisation of next-generation design and extending across the entire product lineup.
