How does a Hybrid car work?
Hybrid cars use two power sources working together: a petrol engine and an electric motor powered by a battery.
• The battery and engine support each other when needed.
• Hybrid cars are self-charging meaning no external charging is needed.
• The battery charges during braking, deceleration or going downhill.
• At low speeds, when coasting, or stopped, a Hybrid vehicle can run in electric mode only.

Hybrid cars (HEV) are often referred as self-charging Hybrid cars. They combine an internal combustion engine with an electric motor and small battery to power the car. A Hybrid electric vehicle can't be plugged in to charge. Instead, the battery charges in decelerating, stopping or coasting phases.
Why buy a Hybrid car? Why buy a Hybrid car?
Buying a Hybrid car offers a practical way to reduce fuel consumption and emissions without changing how you drive. The use of a petrol engine supported by an electric motor helps to improve efficiency, particularly in urban and stop-start traffic. With no need to plug in to charge, lower running costs and smooth, automatic driving, Hybrids are a covenient way to step towards electric driving.
Are Hybrid vehicles zero-emission and better for the environment? Are Hybrid vehicles zero-emission and better for the environment?
By using electric power at low speeds and regenerative braking, Hybrids consume less fuel and can produce lower tailpipe emissions, particularly in city driving conditions. Kia continues to invest in lower-emission powertrains and electrified technology as part of its broader move towards more efficient mobility.
What’s it like to drive a Hybrid car? What’s it like to drive a Hybrid car?
A Hybrid drives like a traditional combustion engine car but with a few bonuses. Do you charge a Hybrid car? Do you charge a Hybrid car?
Hybrids automatically recharge their battery using energy recovered during braking and deceleration, as well as from the petrol engine while driving. This means you never need to plug a hybrid in. It's worth noting that this is different from a Plug-In Hybrid (PHEV), which does require external charging.
How long does a Hybrid battery last? How long does a Hybrid battery last?
Modern hybrid batteres, including those in Kia Hybrid cars, are designed to last for many years. When properly maintained, its common for Hybrid batteries to remain effective beyond 8-10 years or 100,000 miles. Battery management systems help to protect long-term performance by controlling charging and temperature. Kia Hybrid batteries are covered by a 8-year warranty.
What happens if a Hybrid battery dies? What happens if a Hybrid battery dies?
