Kia EV4 & PV5 Cargo Win at News UK Motor Awards 2025
Do you have to charge a hybrid car?
Kia is celebrating a major double victory at this year’s News UK Motor Awards, where the Kia EV4
was named Electric Car of the Year and the Kia PV5 Cargo
electric van took home The Sun’s Van of the Year.
These are the first UK awards for both models since launching earlier in 2025 and mark an exciting moment that highlights Kia’s growing strength across both passenger and commercial electric vehicle
markets.
A first win for the Kia EV4: Electric Car of the Year
The Kia EV4 is Kia’s first-ever C-segment electric hatchback, designed to combine long-range capability, stylish design, and everyday practicality. Following in the footsteps of the multi-award-winning Kia EV3
the EV4 has already set new standards for range and value so soon after its launch in February 2025.
With a range of up to 388 miles* on a single charge, it offers the longest driving range of any Kia EV to date. The EV4 is an ideal family car
for those seeking space, comfort, and cutting-edge EV technology in a compact form. The EV4 has already earned critical acclaim,
“Kia continues to score home run after home run with its ever-growing EV line-up,” said Rob Gill, Motors Editor at The Sun. “This time it’s EV4, a hugely impressive five-door hatchback, with long-range batteries, spacious cabins, and slick in-car tech.”
The award marks an important milestone for the EV4, recognising Kia’s ongoing commitment to expanding electric mobility with accessible, high-quality vehicles designed around real-world needs.
Kia PV5 Cargo Electric Van named The Sun’s Van of the Year
Following its debut at the Commercial Vehicle Show earlier this year, the PV5 Cargo electric van’s historic win at the News UK Motor Awards reinforces Kia’s growing reputation in the electric commercial sector.
Launched earlier this year alongside the EV4
at Kia’s second annual EV Day,
the PV5 Cargo electric van represents the brand’s first step into the electric light commercial vehicle (e-LCV) market. It’s also the first vehicle within Kia’s Platform Beyond Vehicle
(PBV) vision for modular, purpose-built vehicles that support both work and lifestyle flexibility.
With a range of up to 258 miles* on a single charge, the PV5 Cargo
electric van combines impressive performance with exceptional practicality for tradespeople, delivery drivers, and small business owners.
“PV5 Cargo is a brilliant first effort from the Koreans at a shockingly good price,” said Rob Gill. “It’s the first of many major awards coming Kia’s way.”
A statement of intent for Kia’s expanding EV range
Both the European-built Kia EV4 and commercial vehicle industry–disrupting PV5 Cargo electric van are being delivered to customers this quarter. The wins reflect Kia’s dedication to innovation, quality, and sustainability, which are key pillars in the brand’s goal to become a global leader in electric mobility.
This year’s success also builds on Kia’s continued recognition at the News UK Motor Awards. In 2024, the Kia Picanto
was crowned City/Small Car of the Year and the Kia EV3
won Small SUV/Crossover of the Year, reinforcing the brand’s position as a consistent winner across multiple categories.
Commenting on the awards, Paul Philpott, President and CEO of Kia UK Limited, said:
“These high-profile awards come at an important time for Kia UK, as we introduce yet more industry-leading, fully electric products into new market segments and begin serving a wider range of customers.”
Driving the future of electric mobility
Kia’s latest accolades showcase how the brand’s electric vehicle
continue to deliver on innovation, affordability, and real-world usability.
From the sleek design of the EV4
to the versatility of the PV5 Cargo
electric van, both vehicles represent Kia’s bold step into the next generation of electric mobility, one that’s built around choice, confidence, and capability for every driver.
* The range was determined according to the standardised EU measurement procedure (WLTP). The individual driving style and other factors, such as speed, outside temperature, topography and the use of electricity-consuming devices/units, have an influence on the real-life range and can possibly reduce it.
