Kia EV6 GT Named One of the Fastest Electric Cars

The Kia EV6 GT has recently been named on a list of the fastest electric cars in the world by Electrifying.com , the home of all things EV. The comprehensive list was put together by Matt Allan, an automotive journalist for the prestigious EV blog.

Designed to find the world’s fastest electric cars, the exclusive selection process considered various stats, such as top speed, power and how fast the car does 0-60mph. The pure electric EV6 GT secured a spot on the line-up, with Allan remarking on its impressive handling, acceleration and drift mode technology.

After being crowned World Performance Car of the Year 2023 in the World Car Awards, it’s fair to say the EV6 GT is rapidly accelerating to become a top contender in the EV industry.

Satisfying the need for speed

Last week, EV experts Electrifying.com published their round-up of the fastest electric cars in the world. The Kia EV6 GT gained a spot on the exclusive list, ranking alongside luxury sports cars and EV giants, such as the Porsche Taycan Turbo S and the Tesla Model S Plaid.

As Allan remarks, the competition to build the “most powerful, the fastest accelerating [and] the outright quickest” car is fierce. With the advantage of instant torque providing fast acceleration, and the booming popularity of electric cars expanding the market, the competition has only grown more rigorous in recent years.

The EV6 GT boasts a top speed of 162mph and reaches 0-60mph in 3.5 seconds, firmly earning its place on the list as one of the world’s fastest electric cars. Allan remarks on the dynamic and daring driving experience of the all-electric car, calling it “...a ferocious thing with breathtaking acceleration, sharp handling, a drift mode and, most importantly, lurid green brake callipers…there to keep the EV6 GT in line”.

Fusing practicality and power

Designed as a family car, the Kia EV6 GT delivers performance without compromising on practicality. The EV6 GT is based on the award-winning EV6 model and enjoys all the same family-friendly features. These include an impressive electric range of up to 263 miles and elevated comfort features, such as the AR head-up display and lightweight bucket seats.

In Allan’s words, “the regular EV6 is a spacious, practical, long-range family car. And…someone at Kia decided it was the perfect candidate for a performance makeover”. The EV6 GT makeover includes bold design touches, like the dedicated GT grille and bumper, as well as the GT credentials under the hood that really make the car stand out.

While the GT designation may have owners “testing its 3.5 second 0-62mph or trying to reach its 162mph top speed on a bit of abandoned runway”, this isn’t all the crossover car has to offer. As Alan adds, “…when you’re not doing that it’s a comfortable cruiser”.

In his praise, Matt Allen also remarks on the EV’s impressive 263-mile range and flexible, multi-fast charging, remarking that “[the EV6 GT is] among the world’s fastest-charging electric cars”. The EV6 GT has a multi-charging system that enables owners to use an 800 V high-speed charger as well as the more mainstream 400 V fast charging.

Alongside its status as one of the fastest EVs, the EV6 GT successfully brings comfort, practicality and performance under one roof. Visit our dedicated page to find out more about the Kia EV6 GT .
