Nature-Inspired Material Solutions
Nature, for us, is not only a source of inspiration but also a catalyst for exploring new materials and design approaches. I believe there's a material revolution happening, and it transforms the way we think and design things. It's quite special when we can really work with nature and coexist in a better way.

Innovative Material Design
Since 2014, Kia has advanced its approach to sustainability in design, beginning with the use of bioplastics and bio-based materials in components of the Soul electric vehicle. Building on this foundation, we have continued to expand the use of plant-based and recycled plastics across vehicle components, from fabrics and carpets to plastics and paints.
Moreover, in 2023, we announced our 'Design Sustainability Strategy' as a meaningful step towards supporting Kia’s ambition to achieve mid-to-long-term carbon emission reduction by 2045.
New Design Possibilities Expanded Through 10 Material Solutions
Starting with the EV9, Kia is gradually phasing out the use of leather across all new models. Kia’s investment in bio-processing technologies is accelerating the realisation of next-generation design and extending across the entire product lineup. Discover the 10 material solutions that marked the beginning of this transformation.
