From Sketch to Showroom
A team of designers took on the challenge of creating a “global” car, and the Kia Seltos was born.
The process of designing a new car can take years of discovery, effort and iteration. But for the Kia Seltos, it took a team of designers to question what’s possible.
The Seltos was developed to fit a need between the Soul and Sportage in the global market. But designing a “global” car is easier said than done. Accomplishing that feat means considering markets as diverse and varied as Korea, India, China, and the US, each with their own unique topography, driving culture, and style.
Undeterred, the design team dove headfirst into the assignment. Despite their daunting task, they hit upon a design that was both compact enough for urban life while still able to take on different terrain. A vehicle that could feel at home nearly anywhere on the planet.
The team’s design proved to be so well-rounded that, after launching in Asia in 2019, the Seltos made its debut in America in February 2020. Ready to take on a new continent’s worth of challenges.
