What government grants are available?
The UK government is offering two incentives that provide discounts on eligible brand-new electric vehicles. Rather than claiming money back later, the grant is applied directly to the vehicle's purchase price at the point of sale.
The scheme supports the adoption of PBVs across the UK by helping to reduce the upfront cost for private buyers, businesses,
and leasing
customers.
How do the Grants work?
The grants are designed to be simple and hassle-free, with the discounts applied automatically when you purchase an eligible vehicle. No application is required from the customer.
- The Electric Car Grant
has two bands of £1,500
and £3,750
. The all-electric Kia PV5 Passenger
benefits from the £1,500 Electric Car Grant.
- The Zero Emission Van Grant
has two bands of either £2,500
or £5,000
. The Kia PV5 Cargo
qualifies for the £5,000 UK Zero Emission Van Grant.
Eligibility Criteria
To qualify for the UK Electric Car Grant vehicles must meet all government requirements:
- Be a new M1 passenger vehicle
- Produce zero tailpipe CO₂ emissions
- Minimum battery range of 100 miles (WLTP)
- 3-year or 60,000 mile warranty
- Be powered by a battery with an 8-year or 100,000 mile warranty
- Meet UK Government sustainability and safety standards
- Have a recommended retail price (RRP) at or below £37,000 to meet the government’s electric car grant price cap
To qualify for the Zero Emissions Van Grant vehicles must meet all government requirements:
- Be between 2,500kg and 4,250kg gross vehicle weight or below
- Produce 0gCO2/km at the tailpipe
- Be able to travel at least 96km (60 miles) without any emissions

(1) Maximum charging speed
The charging speed and charging time depend on different factors including the current state of charge of the battery, battery temperature and the charger used. It is also defined by the individual driving style and energy consumption.
(2) Driving Range
The PV5 Passenger has a range of up to 256 miles. The range was determined according to the standardised EU measurement procedure (WLTP). The individual driving style and other factors, such as speed, outside temperature, topography and the use of electricity-consuming devices/units, have an influence on the real-life range and can possibly reduce it.
Warranty
Kia high voltage lithium ion battery-units in electric vehicles (EV), hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles (PHEV) are built to have a long life. These batteries are covered by the Kia warranty for a period of 7 years from initial registration or 100,000 miles, whichever comes first (8 years/100,000 miles for EV models registered from 01/01/2024). For low voltage batteries (48V and 12V) in mild-hybrid electric vehicles (MHEV), the Kia warranty covers a period of 2 years from initial registration regardless of mileage. For EVs and PHEVs only, Kia guarantees a 70% capacity of the battery. Capacity reduction for the battery in HEV and MHEV is not covered by the warranty.
