Mild Hybrid Powertrain
The Kia Rio features an advanced mild hybrid powertrain, giving you low-emission everyday driving. By pairing the latest 1.0 T-GDi gasoline engine with a 48-volt lithium-ion battery, it can reduce fuel consumption levels. What’s more, the integrated ‘e-system’ recovers kinetic energy during deceleration phases to provide torque assistance when accelerating. (Available on the '3' and 'GT-Line S' grades)
Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)
Warns about potential hazards, protects if needed. Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA)⁷ on the Rio comprises a radar on the front bumper and camera on the windscreen to check for upcoming hazards such as pedestrians, cyclists or other cars. Should it detect something, it warns you and brakes automatically if necessary, to help avoid or mitigate an accident. (Standard on '2' upwards, optional on '1')
Always get the full picture when reversing into a parking spot. Whenever you reverse into a parking space, the camera will automatically display the rear view on your 8" LCD screen to give you better visibility behind your Rio, along with dynamic guidelines to help guide you into place. ('2' grade upwards)
Blind-Spot Collision Warning
Keep an eye on the blind spots. When you want to change lane, the BCW system detects any vehicle in your blind spot and warns you. (Available on the 'GT-Line S' only)
Android Auto™ & Apple CarPlay™
It’s time to use your smartphone in the car in a smarter way. With Apple CarPlay™ or Android Auto™, everything on your phone goes directly to your car’s built-in display: maps, calls, texts, apps, you name it. ('2' upwards)
Kia Connect On-Board Services 1
Kia Connect services power your Kia with a number of connected services. Navigation is performed using live traffic data for the best possible route and journey time estimate, and your destination searches draw their results from the internet for maximum accuracy and relevance. You also have access to weather information, as well as live fuel prices for stations around you. And when you’ve almost arrived at your destination, Kia Connect helps you find public parking spaces, with pricing and availability for parking locations near you.
Kia Connect App Services 2
Interact with your Rio wherever you are. With the Kia Connect app, you can get the status of your car such as the distance it can travel or whether all doors are properly closed - at a glance, and you get notified if anything seems wrong. You also have access to a number of convenience features like Send To Car, which lets you select a destination on your phone and send it to your Rio. You can also create a user profile so your preferred vehicle settings – like the orientation of the map or how your Rio alerts you to speed cameras - apply once behind the wheel. When you park your car before arriving at your exact destination, the Kia Connect app can also provide you guidance to complete the journey on foot.
