Kia Ireland continue V2L partnership with The Yoga Picnic

29th May 2024: Kia Ireland are delighted to announce that they will be returning as the Sustainable Transport Partner to The Yoga Picnic 2025. The Yoga Picnic is an intimate Yoga Festival on the banks of Lough Ennell, Co. Westmeath which celebrates Mind, Body, and Spirit. The Yoga Picnic, which takes place on Saturday July 5th will celebrate some of the world’s leading yoga teachers and promote awareness about yogic philosophies, wellness, mental health, sustainability and the environment. The festival hosts various classes, talks, therapies and ceremonies within twelve purpose built tents on an impressive 30 acre festival site. Kia will again support this eco-friendly initiative by powering all festival tents using Vehicle-To-Load (V2L) technology from their electric vehicles.

Kia’s Vehicle-to-Load technology allows electric vehicle owners to power external electronic devices in various environments using the vehicles battery as a generator. V2L allows 80% of the maximum car battery capacity to be used to power external devices, which is enough power a household of four people, for up to five days based on average monthly household energy consumption. V2L is easy to use and is accessible via the 3-pin socket under the rear seats or via the external charging port using the dedicated connector.

Speaking about the partnership Cathal Kealey, Head of Marketing & PR at Kia Ireland added; “We are delighted to be powering The Yoga Picnic with our V2L technology again this year. At the peak of storm Éowyn in January, almost one million homes were without power. All around the country, we witnessed customers using our V2L technology to power their essential household appliances. In certain instances, we even saw our car batteries powering entire households using Vehicle to Home technology (V2H). At The Yoga Picnic festival last year, our cars powered tents from dawn to dusk yet only consumed 5% of battery range. Our V2L technology carries 3.6kW but on average, the tents only require 0.5kW to power its AV systems, so as a result our 84kW EV6 battery could power the tents for a full week if required. This is a fantastic feature and something that many customers are still unaware of. Not only is this partnership removing the need for unnecessary industrial generators at the festival, it is also creating V2L awareness amongst festival goers as showcasing just how useful this technology can be for camping trips, barbecues, gardening tasks and other summer activities.”

Kia will power all twelve tents at The Yoga Picnic 2025. On the day, Kia will also be displaying their entire electric vehicle range including the 2025 World Car of the Year, the EV3, the New EV6 and seven seater EV9.
