DRIVE.

Albert Biermann, head of Kia’s Vehicle Test & High Performance Development and former BMW M Division VP, and his talented team of engineers were committed to perfecting the Stinger’s ride and handling. The result is finely-tuned chassis feedback, high levels of lateral grip, and smooth power delivery.

Dynamic at the core.

The foundation of an authentic gran turismo begins and ends with outstanding chassis engineering. Click on a spot below to explore some of the Stinger’s most notable drive technologies at work.
Perfected from the ground up.
The reimagined chassis.

ELECTRONICALLY CONTROLLED SUSPENSION (ECS)

Integrated into the MacPherson Strut front- and 5-link rear-suspension geometry, the available Electronically Controlled Suspension (ECS) offers suspension tuning for the GT1 and GT2 drive modes. The system monitors and adapts to everything from road conditions to vehicle behavior to deliver maximum driving pleasure.

Anatomy of the perfect ride.

ELECTROMECHANICAL STEERING

Unlike some vehicles whose steering feels artificial, the Stinger’s Rack-Mounted Driven Power Steering (RMDPS) is built to be exceptionally accurate. Twin-turbo V6-powered Stinger GT trims also feature variable ratio steering for optimized stability and responsiveness when needed.

Intelligent engineering.

REAR-WHEEL DRIVE (RWD)

The Rear-wheel drive (RWD) Stinger GT2 comes with standard mechanical Limited Slip Differential (LSD) for evenly-distributed power through the drive wheels. This direct connection delivers more responsive and agile handing while navigating curves.

The future of engineering.

AVAILABLE ALL-WHEEL DRIVE (AWD)

Available all-wheel drive (AWD) with Dynamic Torque Vectoring Control (DTVC) delivers enhanced handling and stability under heavy cornering or low-grip surfaces. The DTVC system is designed to monitor the drive, and automatically applies power or braking to the front and rear wheels accordingly.

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT aerodynamic design

AERODYNAMIC DESIGN

Sculpted to be aggressively aerodynamic, from the drag-minimizing A-pillar molding in the front to the kicked-up line at the back, the Stinger is streamlined form that truly functions.

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT with front-bumper air curtains

BEND THE WIND

Thoughtful design elements, like integrated front-bumper air curtains that reduce turbulence in the wheel wells, help the Stinger achieve an impressive drag coefficient of .30 Cd.

The 2018 Kia Stinger GT with air exit underbody

PATH OF LEAST RESISTANCE

We incorporated multiple underbody covers to let air exit beneath the Stinger smoothly and efficiently, helping to increase stability especially at high speeds.
