Efficient EV Charging in Winter: Using Battery Conditioning Mode

By using battery conditioning mode with a DC fast-charging station set as a destination, the battery temperature can be raised to an optimal level, which can help reduce the time it takes to charge the battery. This is because charging a cold battery can take longer than charging a battery that is already at a suitable temperature.

How to set up the battery conditioning mode

  1. 01Access the infotainment display in the vehicle and go to [EV] > [EV settings] > [Battery conditioning mode].
  2. 02Check the box next to the battery conditioning mode option to activate it.
  3. 03When the battery conditioning mode is activated, a red coil indicator will illuminate on the battery gauge on the instrument panel with the destination set to a DC charging station.
  4. 04To cancel the battery conditioning mode, simply uncheck the box in the same manner as above.

Cautions

  • Activating the battery conditioning mode may decrease the driving range due to the consumption of battery power.
  • The battery conditioning mode is only available on electric vehicles that have a battery heater.
