Prepared for the unexpected.

Sportage is equipped with safety systems that are designed to help minimize injuries when an accident is unavoidable. The front seats feature active headrests and seat-belt pretensioners. Dual front airbags, front seat-mounted side airbags and side curtain airbags for both front and rear seating positions are managed by an advanced sensor system that can even respond in certain rollover situations. Sportage is also equipped with safety systems to help you avoid accidents. Click the symbols to learn more.

EXTERIOR

Side-Impact Door Beams

Doors are reinforced with steel beams to help absorb impact energy and deflect side-impact force. Both the A and B pillars are reinforced to help strengthen the body of the vehicle in the case of a collision.

4-Wheel Anti-Lock Brakes (ABS) 4-Wheel Disc Brakes

Power-Assisted 4-Wheel disc brakes and an Anti-Lock Braking System (ABS) provide excellent stopping power.

Electronic Stability Control (ESC) (Shown)

It monitors and assists in the control of key vehicle functions to provide improved directional stability, which helps you maintain better control in difficult driving situations.

Traction Control System (TCS)

The advanced Traction Control System can sense wheel spin during acceleration. When it does, it uses a combination of engine power and brake force to transfer power to the wheels that have the most traction, providing both increased control and enhanced responsiveness.

Tire-Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS)

This system includes airpressure sensors located at each wheel. If a tire reaches a specified low air pressure, a warning light will alert you.

NOTE: Even with the Tire-Pressure Monitoring System, always check your tire pressure on a regular basis.

INTERIOR

Advanced Airbag System

Six airbags placed throughout the cabin are designed to help protect occupants. The advanced front airbag system monitors the severity of an impact, the presence of a front passenger and seat-belt use, and then controls airbag inflation accordingly.

Full-Length Side Curtain Airbags w/Rollover Sensor

If the airbag sensors detect an impending rollover, the system can deploy the side airbags, side curtain airbags and seat-belt pretensioners.

Front Active Headrests

In the event of certain rear collisions, the active headrests move up and forward, helping to reduce the likelihood of neck injury.

Front & Rear 3-point Seat Belts

Three-point seat belts are standard for all 5 seating positions.

Lower Anchors & Tethers for Children (LATCH)

The standardized LATCH system (Lower Anchors and Tethers for Children) makes it easier to securely install a compatible child seat in any of the three rear seating positions.

Front Seat-Belt Pretensioners

In the event of certain collisions, seatbelt pretensioners are designed to tighten the seatbelts, in anticipation of an impact to help to reduce the likelihood of injury.
