* For drive train components, and suspension parts, please refer to Section C. Components and Parts Covered, and Section D. Exceptions.
* Service parts replaced under warranty repair is covered for the remainder of applicable Limited Warranty under which the parts were replaced preciously.

CAUTION : The Warranty may not be honored to the KIA vehicle which is used for commercial purpose. i.e taxi, car rental, etc.

A. THE WARRANTY PERIOD

The New Vehicle Limited Warranty contained in booklet (other than warranties on replacement parts or accessories installed after the Kia vehicle was placed into use), the warranty period begins on the Date of Vehicle registered. "Date of Vehicle registered" means the first date of the Kia vehicle is registered to the first retail purchaser. Whenever this manual refers to a warranty period of months / kilometres, it means whichever comes first. Any remaining portion of any warranty, is fully transferable to subsequent owners.
Except as limited or excluded items mentioned in this manual -sections C, D and E, all components of your new Kia Vehicle are covered for 60 months / unlimited mileage from the Date of First Service, whichever comes first. (Basic Limited Warranty).

B. WARRANTY COVERAGE

1) Basic Warranty Coverage

This Warranty covers any REPAIRS needed during the WARRANTY PERIOD due to defects in material or workmanship, however does not cover wear and maintenance items, or those items exclude elsewhere in this booklet. See "Exceptions" and "What is not covered."

2) NAZA/KIA Service Parts Warranty

NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD warrants that the parts installed in replacement of the defective parts at the owner’s cost are free from defects in material and workmanship even after the vehicle’s warranty has already expired. In case a service part is being replaced during the vehicle’s warranty period, the part will still be covered under warranty for the remaining period.

Note: The following manufacturer’s warranty is subject to complying with the periodical service maintenance as specified in this Service Booklet and the service maintenance records must have been duly stamped and signed by NAZA KIA MALAYSIA Service Branches or Authorized Service Outlets. Parts replaced warranty will become the property of NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN. BHD.

C. COMPONENTS AND PARTS COVERED

1) Engine

Cylinder block including:
Pistons, piston rings, connecting-rods & bearings, crankshaft, and engine internal bearing

Cylinder head including:
Camshaft, camshaft bearings, cam followers, timing-gears, timing chains & guides, rocker assembly including hydraulic rocker, rocker arm, rocker shafts, rocker bushings, cylinder head valves, collects, valves lifters, valve springs, valve seals, valve spring retainers, valve seats, valve guides, pushrods, head gasket(s), oil- pump (including oil-pump housing), Inlet & exhaust manifolds.
Excluding:- Plugs, high-tension leads, all drive belt(s). All hoses & tubes, clamps & clips, v-belt tensioner device including bearing, core plugs, oil seals, breathers & filters.

2) Transmission

(a) Manual - Internal gears & shafts, baulk rings and bearing, syncro hubs, selector fork, seals & bushes, reverse light switch, sensors & solenoids, odometer drive-gears, oils seals & gaskets.
Excluding:- All Cables & rubber bushes, gearbox mounting, clutch-plate, pressure plate, release bearing.

(b) Automatic - Torque-converter, drive-plate, gears, shafts & bushes, oil-pump, seals, governors, servo, solenoids & switches, odometer drive-gears, gear linkages, valvebody, clutches & brake bands.
Excluding:- Burnt or worn out clutches & brake bands, all pipes & hoses, mounting, all rubber bushes, filters.

3) Drivetrain

Crown wheel & pinion, locking rings, universal-joints, 4 wheel-drive unit, free-wheeling hub. Bearings, differential gears, driveshaft’s & constant-velocity joints, propeller shaft/ half shaft.
Excluding:- gaiters, clips, rubber boots, rubber-couplings, oil seals.

4) Cooling System

Radiator, oil-cooler, water-pump including pulley, viscous-coupling, thermostat, thermostat housing & gasket, thermostatically controlled-fan (including motor), temperature sender units. Excluding:- V-belt, hoses, clamps & clips, coolant.

5) Fuel System

Actuator, air mass sensor, fuel-pump, fuel injection pump & injectors, automatic choke unit, diesel injection- pump & injectors, diesel lift-pump, fuel-tank sending unit. Excluding:- Adjustments & tuning e.g. Fuel lines, filters, gaskets, all cables, clips, hoses & relays.

6) Front & Rear Suspension*

Coil springs, leaf springs, stabilizer-bars, shock absorbers strut inserts, upper & lower control arms, ball & swivel joints, and wheel bearings. Excluding:- Bushings.

7) Steering System

Steering unit, rack & pinion, steering column, power steering pump, pitman arm, idler arm, tie-rod ends, drag link, universal joints, high pressure hoses. Excluding:- All belts, hoses, pipes, gaiters, clips, rubber boots.

8) Brake System

Brake servo, non-return valve, master & wheel cylinders, restrictor valve, disc brake caliper & seals, pedal assembly & linkages, ABS electronic control processor, ABS speed sensor, pressure differential valve. Excluding: - All hoses, pipes, springs, disc rotors, brake drums. Noises from the brake system e.g. pads, shoes.

9) Electrical System

Starter motor unit including solenoid, alternator unit, voltage regulator, distributor, coil unit, washer pump, power window unit, power mirror motor, headlamp adjuster motor, stop lamp switch, wiper system. Excluding:- Batteries, light bulbs, wiper blades/rubbers.
Note:- Any damage resulting from modifications of "wiring harness" is not covered by the warranty.

10) Enhanced Electrical

Engine control unit including automatic cruise control, transmission control unit, electrochromic mirror, reverse sensor, reverse camera.
Note:- Any damage resulting from modifications of "wiring harness" (prior to the failure of the control unit) and/or mishandling of the unit(s) is not covered by the warranty.

11) Air Conditioner

Compressor, compressor clutch, condenser, evaporator / cooling coil, expansion valve, suction throttling valve, automatic climate control unit, blower motor, switches relays, air conditioner motor fan. Excluding;- Bearings, seals, pulleys, all belts & hoses, all cables, receiver dryer, oil, refrigerant.

12) Body Interior

Bonnet release mechanism, glove compartment latch/lock.

13) Body Exterior

Petrol cap release mechanism, boot & tailgate release mechanism, tailgate lock. Excluding:- All cables & any damages caused by forced entry.

14) Casings

Damage caused to casing and other mechanical & electrical parts as a direct result of the failure of a covered compartment.
Provided that all major mechanical & electrical components that are warranted shall only be replaced wholly if repair and replacement of internal parts of the component is not possible or exceeds the total cost of the whole component.

D. EXCEPTION

The items specified below are being covered differently from the basic coverage mentioned earlier.

1) Battery

The original equipment of battery is warranted by the battery manufacturers.
Diesel vehicles : Six months from date of sale of the vehicle and / or 20,000 kilometers, which ever comes first.
Petrol vehicles : One year from date of sale of the vehicle and / or 20,000 kilometers, whichever comes first.
* Note : Warranty are against manufacturing defects.

2) Tyres

Tyres are warranted by the tyre’s original manufacturer, subject to the manufacturer’s final decision.

3) Wheel Alignment

Vehicle’s wheel alignment adjustment claim valid up to the first 1,000 km during the 1st maintenance service only. It is recommended for the wheel alignment of your vehicle be checked (and adjusted if necessary) every 10,000 km or 6 months.

4) Audio System

Audio system is covered for 24 months or 40,000 km (whichever comes first) from the vehicle date of registration.

5) Drivetrain

Bearings & oil seals, driveshaft’s & constant-velocity joints, propeller shaft/ half shaft, wheel-bearings, axle-bearings, engine and transmission mountings, are covered for a period of 36 months or 50,000 km (whichever comes first), from the date of vehicle registration.

6) Suspension parts

All suspension items e.g: shock absorbers, including bushings are covered for a period of 36 months or 50,000 km (whichever comes first), from the date of vehicle registration.

7) Air Conditioning – Refrigerant Charge

Refrigerant is covered under warranty for the first six (6) months or 10,000 km (whichever comes first). Any subsequent top up of refrigerant / oil will not be covered under warranty.

8) Accessories

Accessories are warranted by the specific manufacturer. Please refer to page 27.

E. EXCLUSION - WHAT IS NOT COVERED UNDER WARRANTY

1) All accident damaged areas:

During the period under warranty, where the vehicle was involved in a collision or any other occurrence which resulted in a damage to the rust proofing application, the damaged area shall be automatically excluded from this warranty (depending on the extent of the damage, the Warranty could even be voided). However, if the customer has his vehicle rehabilitated and brought back to NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Authorized Service Outlet (assuming that an inspection or re inspection obligation is met), the NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Authorized Service Outlet, after full inspection of the vehicle and further at his discretion, re-apply the rust proofing chemicals and eventually include the reapplied areas in its Warranty. A fee will be charged.

2) Damages due to factors beyond the manufacturer’s control.

  • Misuse of the KIA vehicle such as driving over curbs, over-loading, racing etc. (proper usage is described in your Owner’s Manual)
  • Accidents, collision, fire, theft, riot etc.
  • Parts or related components damaged due to alteration, modification, tampering etc. to the parts will not be covered under warranty.
  • Damage or surface corrosion from the environment such as acid rain, airborne fallout (chemical, tree sap etc) salt, road hazards, stone, hail, wind storm, lightning, roads and other act of God.
  • External rust or corrosion caused by stone chipping, abrasion or defective paintwork
  • Cosmetic conditions or surface corrosion from stone chips or scratches to the paint.
  • Devices or accessories installed by any parties other than NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Authorized Accessories Centre.
  • Any damage to glasses such as cracks, shatter, scratches, chipping or breakage to windscreen and window glasses. For your vehicle protection, you are recommended to purchase an exclusive insurance coverage for all windscreen and glasses. Please consult your insurance provider.
  • If the vehicle is used as a taxi or rental unit.

3) Damages due to the lack of Maintenance or the Use of Wrong Fuel, Oil or Lubricants:-

  • Lack of proper maintenance as described in your Owner’s Manual.
  • Improper maintenance or usage of other than specified grade of fuel, oil or lubricants as stipulated in your Owner’s Manual.

4) Normal deterioration

  • Normal wear and tear or deterioration such as discoloration, fading, deformation etc.
  • Surface corrosion on any part other than the body, sheet metal panels forming the exterior appearance of a KIA vehicle.
  • If the said vehicle shall be repaired or serviced by any person or company other than Naza Kia Authorized Service Outlets.

5) Any damage in respect of where a non-genuine KIA part is used.

6) Any defects caused by repair or replacement by Service Outlets other than Authorized NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Outlets/Dealers.

7) Normal maintenance service such as cleaning and polishing, and replenishment or replacement of oil, fluids, coolant, wiper blades, all belting, brake and clutch linings, spark plugs, electric bulbs, gaskets, and so on, as a result of normal wear and tear.

8) Various adjustment such as brake and clutch adjustment, adjustment of head lamps, wheel alignment, balancing, engine adjustment, etc.

9) Any economics loss. This includes without limitation, payment for loss of use of the NAZA/KIA vehicle, towing charges, lodging, car rentals, travel costs, loss of revenues and other expenses or damages.

10) Altered Mileage. Any repair of a NAZA /KIA Vehicle on which the odometer has been altered or on which the actual mileage cannot be readily determined. (When the speedometer is replaced, the "Speedometer Replacement Record" on the inside front cover must be filled in by a NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Authorized Service Outlets)

11) Very slight troubles, which are generally not accepted as caused by defect in material and workmanship, and or difficulties which happens in very special operation only.

12) Very small and low sound such as wind noise or vibration which is not recognized as affecting quality or function of the vehicles.

13) Gaps between panels, which are within the limits set by the manufacturers.

14) Very slight oozing of oil or the like about packing and/or oil seal, which causes no decreases in the quantity of the oil or the like.

15) Engine tuning, cleaning of fuel lines, filters, nozzles, pumps, drive belts that are not encased, impact or external damage, de carbonization and failures caused by the buildup of carbon deposits (including burnt valves).

16) The cost of normal servicing, service items and other items which can be expected to wear as part of their function.

CAR CARE

1) Paintwork

The paintwork should be inspected periodically for any formation of chips or scratches. This is best done when you send your vehicle for cleaning or during your own cleaning. Pay attention to the front and sides of the vehicle which may have been chipped due to foreign particles such as stones thrust by your own car or from other vehicles. The edge of the doors may have been chipped or scratched if opened against a wall or other obstructions.Small blemishes must be dealt with as soon as possible to prevent deterioration. If rust has set in, this must be treated by your NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Authorized Service Outlets to protect your Warranty.

2) Interior

The vehicle interior must be cleaned as mentioned in the Owners’ Manual under Maintenance section.

CLAIM PROCEDURE

1) In the event of claim under the terms of this Warranty, the owner should bring the vehicle together with this Service Booklet to any NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Authorized Service Outlets.

2) The NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD Authorized Service Outlets will check the booklet for verification of the vehicle and it’s service history including accident repairs.

3) The NAZA KIA MALAYSIA Authorized Service Outlets shall inspect and repair the vehicle in accordance to the terms and conditions of NAZA KIA MALAYSIA SDN BHD warranty policy.
