As an integral part of its expanding Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, Kia Motors Europe is sponsoring a new Pan-European charitiable program of planting schrubs in southern Mali, West Africa. Called "Kia-Planting for a Better Life" the project will garantee the planting of up to six million jatropha shrubs, helping to secure a brighter future for communities in the region.
There is now 2.3 million Jatropha plants growing in the fields of Mali. With this progress we have created 51 Jatropha Field schools. These schools will educate 5000 farmers on ways in which they can maximise their stock through the planting and harvesting of Jatropha plants, peanuts, millet and Maize. This cooperation with Kia Motors Europe will help the farmers of Mali to have a better future.
